Movie day

Sunday morning Colby slept in till 11:30a!! Those of you with child experience know that this means one thing. Sure enough, she woke with a fever. Nasal drainage has changed color and her temp peaked last night at 104. Mason has a really nice chunky cough and is acting a little grumpier than norm. In light of children and that it's in the 30's again today and my knee is sore from playing soccer with the kids yesterday (yes, Colby was out playing soccer yesterday, she dribbles quite well), today has been deemed movie day. There might also be some light toy cleaning as well. (I know, we lead exciting lives.)

Update: According the MD's office, Mason has a cough (duh, that's why we brought him in!) and Colby has an ear infection. Mason has a script for meds if we think he needs it and Colby started her's this eve.

Let the work begin!

Well my follow up appt with the MD has me back at work for 8hr shifts and he states that it's PT's fault that my hamstring sucks. Pt states, "if he hadn't been in there messing with it!" Ahhh... feel the love. However, I've completed two weeks now at work and I'm still alive! I even remembered my locker combo after the 4th try. My leg is sore afterward, but not soo much that a little (ok a lot) motrin and icing can't handle. One of these days I'll have to find an ambulance crew to see if I can lift the stretcher so I can get back to working the road.

In other news, both kids have a bug, Mason a cough, Colby the constantly running nose. Hmmm... life isn't all that exciting now that I'm thinking about it. Well, maybe something cute will happen that I can get a good pic or something for all of you.

Long one with lotsa pics!

I'd like to thank Laura for coming over and making me a birthday dinner of fried rice and wontons. I especially enjoyed watching the kids make wontons. They loved it soo much that they showed grandma how to make them a couple days later!

I continue to sew. Here are Kevin's and Colby's PJ bottoms. Mason also has a pair, I just don't seem to have a picture of him in his. Oh, and I made a second pillow.

The kids received some rain boots yesterday and we decided to try them out today. Both kids had a great time running back and forth thru the puddle. Mason had a little water just above his boots. Colby, who played in it much longer than Mason, was drenched to the point of dripping water from her legs.

For dinner, I made potato leek soup. To help get the kids more interested in it I placed out some fixings to go on top, bacon, cheese and chives. Here's their creations. Of course after picking off some cheese and bacon, they both decided they were done.

In Sara news, the MD has approved for me to go back to work on a limited schedule but a big fat no to the ambulance stuff. This means that I start work on thurs!! I'm a little freaked out as it's been 4 months since I've been there last. I don't think that I even remember my locker combo! On the way out to the car Mon AM I slipped on the stairs. While trying to protect my knee, I apparently took it out on my toe.

For those of you cringing a little, it looks worse than it feels. Oh and for those of you that prefer more excitement, I also have a movie of my toe as I didn't realize the camera was set on video.

Be careful

when you go to humor a child.... Mason attempted to grow a bean plant at school which lead to him wanting to plant every seed that he found. So, during this time he wanted to plant one of his pear seeds. We humored him and planted it in a plastic cup that we had left over from a party. Of course we were sure to warn him that it might not grow. The next week or so a little shoot starting to emerge. The leaves looked a little sickly often, but still the plant continued to grow and sickly leaves were replaced by sickly looking leaves. This last transplant I thought for sure it was going to be a goner. Much to our surprise, the sickly leaves fell off and were replaced with pretty green leaves and continue to grow more pretty green leaves. The bean plant from school... that one wasn't so lucky.

It's official

I've turned 30. Ahhh... ultimately I'm happy with the way the last 30yrs have turned out. I'm blessed with great family and friends. I've loved and lost and found "the one". I've had 2 kids, one with and one without an epidural. I have a good job with good insurance and disability. Though not where I thought I'd be at 30, it ain't all bad. Had I realized that this is how the picture would turn out, I probably would have made more effort to do my hair and make-up. Oh well, it's me.
