Needing to brag...

Today I stopped by Mason's school in order to attempt to find his hat. (Ya know, that one that I spent money on, not the el cheapo one. Still didn't find the hat and left el cheapo at the grandparents house. Now, no hat.) ANYWAY... after looking in Mason's locker, his teacher stopped me to talk a bit. She goes to tell me how extremely impressed she is with Mason's reading skills. She tells me that they need to be able to read at a "level 3" before leaving kindergarten and he's reading at a "level 18" with ease. States he is one of the top readers in his class. =)

Just need to brag a bit. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as he sleeps with no less than 5 books in his bed at night.

Status quo

Life with the Freeman's is status quo. Mason is playing soccer and seems to be enjoying himself hanging out with the other kids. His soccer skills and some overall athleticism is a bit lacking. Though, as long as he keeps telling us he's having fun.... School is going very well. He's always coming home with papers with smiley faces on them. We can't wait for him to be complete and be able to do some more PJ days. His reading skills are wonderful and shortly we'll trying some chapter books. This coming holiday weekend, he'll be heading with my folks to go camping.

Colby is also doing well. She's gotten more into using the potty lately. My fave was the day she decided to use the potty while we were at the store. Afterward, there's the 2 of us doing the potty dance in the stall. Also, her verbal skills are getting to the point where I'm no longer the only one that understands her. Her naps are sadly becoming less consistent and she doesn't quite grasp the "quiet" part of quiet time.

All in all, they are both doing/growing/developing perfectly. And, they're soo cute!!

Game tonight!

Game 2 is tonight out at the Oceola Township Hall. Game time is 7:15ish but we'll be there at 7p for pictures. He'll be playing on field 4. We'll be the ones with the jogging stroller and the really big umbrella. (Mason's team wears orange.)

Game Day

I have a great respect for the coaches and especially the referees of 5yr old soccer teams. So.... it's 4 on 4, no goalie playing on a quarter sized field. The ref calls for what I want to call "line changes" every 3 minutes or so. I guess it's good because it offers a chance to rotate all the kids thru. Speaking of the kids, they all follow each other around in one decent size group and often there was a breakaway and scoring. It was definitely a high scoring game, though they don't actually keep score. It's about playing, not winning. =) As for Mason, he took some time running around the back of the pack but slowing started to ease into the game. He had a lot of good defensive moves and is decent at throw-ins. He's still much more into the social aspect of play than the competitive side and as such enjoyed chilling on the sidelines as much as playing. A couple game shots...

And this is just adorable.

Thanks Linds (or maybe Caleb?) for the "new" books. The kids are REALLY getting into them all!!

Reminder

Because I almost forgot....

Tonight is Mason's first soccer game! It's at 6p, Oceola township hall, field 5.
